Researcher at the Medical University of Warsaw, Department of Medical Biology, Faculty of Health Sciences, head of the University Laboratory of Human Milk and Lactation at the Regional Milk Bank at the St. Family Specialized Hospital in Warsaw. Winner of the prestigious T. Sendzimir Prize awarded by the Kosciuszko Foundation for the project to reactivate milk banks in Poland (2008) Winner of the award of the Minister of Science and Higher Education (2019) for outstanding scientific and scientific-technical achievements in the category of research for the benefit of society (2018). Ranked 40th on WUM’s list of top 100 scientists for 2019-2022. Founder and President of the Human Milk Bank Foundation in Poland whose activities have led to improved perinatal care in the field of nutrition for premature and sick newborns by providing donor milk. Member of the Board of Directors of the European Milk Bank Association (EMBA) since 2016. Member of the Public Health Council of the Minister of Health and Secretary of the Patient Needs Group of the President of the Medical Research Agency.
She is a promoter of breastfeeding and a great advocate of the idea of safe breastfeeding sharing – she has repeatedly participated in and co-organized popularization events, workshops for parents, especially mothers of premature babies and children undergoing long-term treatment. Her current scientific interests are biochemistry of human milk, nutritional therapy, and the challenge of preterm feeding in NICU including low own mother’s milk supply and access to safe donor milk.
