Hugh Lemonde, MRCPCH PhD

Hugh Lemonde, MRCPCH PhD, is a Paediatric Metabolic Specialist based at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital. He trained as a biochemist at Imperial College London and completed a PhD at the Institute of Child Health and Great Ormond Street Hospital, conducting research into inherited metabolic diseases (IMD) using molecular genetic techniques and mass spectrometry.
After working as a postdoctoral scientist, Hugh returned to education studying medicine at University College London and undertook postgraduate paediatric training in the London Deanery. He completed training as a metabolic specialist at Evelina London Children’s and Great Ormond Street Hospitals. Since 2015 he has been a Paediatric Metabolic Consultant at the Evelina London Children’s hospital. He leads the PKU service and is active in clinical research trials. The metabolic team work closely with the Evelina Neonatal Unit, one of the leading neonatal units in the UK, to provide diagnostic support and care for metabolic patients in the Evelina and across the wider neonatal networks in South and East England.
